Jason Tesson has taken victory on stage 2 of La Route d'Occitanie from a sprint finish.
Stage 2 is quite a tough and tricky day. The second half of the day is mostly flat and much indicates that it could end in a sprint, however the first half is quite difficult and can see a strong group go up the road and gain enough time on the peloton.
With the race altogether with over 40km still to go, Luxembourg rider Larry Valvasori decided to try his luck and made a solo move up the road.
When he was caught another counter-attack almost immediately came over the top from his teammate, Jean Louis Le Ny.
Into the final 10km and the race was all back together with attention then turning to the sprint finish.
The INEOS Grenadiers were doing the majority of work at the front of the bunch and as the final sprints began to open Filippo Ganna was leading out Elia Viviani.
In the end though it wasn't to be for Viviani, with TotalEnergies, Jason Tesson emerging victorious.
