🇮🇹 #GirodItalia Serious question time... ⤵️ Should Plappy go white shorts/white jersey tomorrow?
After his breakaway escapades on stage 6, how Luke Plapp would be able to recover ahead of the individual time-trial was a concern for some. Those worries were wrongly placed however, as the Australian impressed again, doing enough to move into the White Jersey.
"I’m happy, it was a super nice day," the Australian National Champion reflects afterwards in conversation with the Team Jayco AlUla website, finishing 7th on the stage, 1:45 down on stage winner Tadej Pogacar and moving up to 5th overall in the general classification, now less than a minute off a place on the podium.
"I haven’t had the best time trials in Europe since I started my professional career, so I’m happy to have a good time trial here today," the 23-year-old continues. "It definitely wasn’t my best, I felt the legs after yesterday, but I am happy with the result in the end. We got the white jersey, so it wasn’t a bad day at all!”
In the battle for Best Young Rider, Plapp now holds a narrow 8 second advantage over Team Visma | Lease a Bike's Cian Uijtdebroeks.
