Injury takes Annemiek van Vleuten out of Gravel World Championships

The Gravel World Championships are taking place this weekend. Annemiek van Vleuten, following her retirement from pro cycling, was meant to be racing this event still with the Movistar Team jersey, however she has had to pull out from it.

“I cannot participate due to a foot injury. I think that's a shame, because it seemed like a nice region to do a gravel race," the Dutch veteran said. She would be one of the favourites as she tackles her first post-pro cycling events, but the rainbow jersey will fall elsewhere.
