It’s been an incredible ride 🤝 At the end of this season we say goodbye to three long-serving Sport Directors. Thanks for everything @ServaisKnaven, @bdlancaster and @gabrielrasch.
Ian Stannard is one of the candidates who is being heavily considered for the position of sports director of Ineos Grenadiers. Recently, the British team announced the departure of three long-serving sports directors, Servais Knaven, Gabriel Rasch, and Brett Lancaster.
For more than a decade, Stannard was an integral member of the team. Their relationship ended when he decided to end his professional cycling career in 2020. Trinity Racing later hired him as its sports director.
Although he did not provide a clear response, he did not deny it either. “Maybe, and that’s not in a funny way. It’s half-sorted but not totally sorted. It’s one of them,” Stannard told Velonews.
Although the news is not official yet, he seems interested in working again with the team since he is well familiar with them. “Obviously, if it all happens, then it would be really exciting to step back up to the team. I know them really well. I think that they’ve made a big step up in the classics campaign, and it would be exciting to be part of that,” concluded Stannard.
