Geraint Thomas will lead
INEOS Grenadiers at the
Giro d'Italia, and the Italian Grand Tour will be a big goal for the British team. 10 names have been collected and form the provisional startlist, from which the team will select their final '8'.
The plan may not bee too different than that of 2023, where Thomas rode to second in the overall classification and was very close to conquering the pink jersey.
Filippo Ganna,
Thymen Arensman and domestique duo
Ben Swift and
Salvatore Puccio may join him once again, according to a report from GCN. However many more names follow alongside them.
Amongst them is
Tobias Foss, the former time-trial World Champion signed with the British team over the winter and is expected to become a domestique for the team's top climbers. Magnus Sheffield, the 21-year old American talent, could be fit for his Grand Tour debut in Italy, and so is
Jhonatan Narváez who has had a brilliant start to the season with a win in the Down Under Classic, and a second place at the Tour Down Under.
One thing seems quite likely, which is the presence of a sprinter in the lineup. Whilst Ganna himself packs a strong punch, the final two names in the list are
Elia Viviani and
Ethan Hayter, both riders who should focus on the fast finishes and possibly the points classification.
Provisional lineup INEOS Grenadiers for Giro d'Italia:
Geraint Thomas, Filippo Ganna, Elia Viviani, Jhonatan Narváez, Thymen Arensman, Ethan Hayter, Magnus Sheffield, Ben Swift, Tobias Foss and Salvatore Puccio.
