Jonas Vingegaard is at an exceptionally high level and is seemingly in the perfect phase in his preparation for the
Tour de France, but with the level of Tadej Pogacar, the Dane will have the challenge of a lifetime if he wants to win his third Tour.
Today on the final day of the
Criterium du Dauphiné, the overall win is still possible for
Team Visma | Lease a Bike who will try for the last time to put the World Champion under pressure. "I'm not going to tell our plan here. So I guess you'll see what our plan will be and yeah, today is the last day, everything is still to fight for. So we will do our best," the Dane said ahead of the stage.
So far Pogacar is superior, but consistency will be crucial, specially at the end of such a difficult week. "Of course, it would be nice to take the overall victory here, so I mean the race is not finished, and we have to do everything we can".
But Vingegaard has already managed to understand very clearly that he will have to go through a prime Pogacar once again. "I think Tadej will be very good in the Tour, so I expect him to be at his best there. I don't expect him to get any worse," the Dane is confident of.
"Yesterday was very good, but I do still think that I can get better. I can't put a number on it, but I'm pretty sure I can get better. Lastly, he was also asked about the Vuelta a España, which he should race following the Tour:
"When you go for the Tour, maybe it's more the question for La Vuelta, if you do that. But, at least for myself, I'm pretty sure that I can do a good Tour de France, then it's more about what you can do in the Vuelta a España afterwards".
