Jonas Vingegaard once again proved stronger than everyone not named Tadej Pogacar at the 2025 Tour de France on the stage 13 time trial. Whilst this solidifies his 2nd place overall however, the two-time Maillot Jaune winner is now more than four minutes down on his great rival.
“I can be happy with my performance today. I probably delivered my best effort ever," assesses an upbeat Vingegaard in conversation with TV2.dk at the finish line, having crossed the line 36 seconds slower than Pogacar but having actually caught and passed time trial world champion Remco Evenepoel before the finish line. "Honestly, Tadej was just stronger and deserved the win. So congratulations to him,” Vingegaard adds.
Given the immense mental and physical blow of the decisive stage 12 defeat, Vingegaard admits he was hit hard by the result on the Hautacam. “Of course, yesterday was really disappointing. I had hoped for more," he admits honestly. "But in the end I was just running on empty. Yesterday was probably one of my worst performances, and today was one of the best. It feels good to bounce back like this, and I’m happy. I gave it everything I had,” the Team Visma | Lease a Bike leader adds in conclusion.
