Geraint Thomas is the new leader of the
Giro d'Italia just before the rest stage. On Sunday night we have known the abandon of
Remco Evenepoel after testing positive for Covid-19 and the Welshman, who was second overall after his great time trial, is the new maglia rosa.
The race has been turned on it's head suddenly, with the mountain stages expected to be raced quite differently. With Thomas now in the lead INEOS may be taking control more as they hold the race lead.
Primoz Roglic is 2 seconds back on Thomas only however. Teammate
Tao Geoghegan Hart sits 5 seconds back and
João Almeida is 22 seconds back now in fourth place.
