Jonas Vingegaard has been relatively under the radar ever since returning home in Denmark, not returning to competition neither having plans to yet. He was not selected to ride the World championships, which has stirred questions regarding his form.
Team trainer Frans Maassen told Ekstra Bladet about the current status of the Tour de France champion: "I understand that fans want to see Jonas, and I spoke to him about it yesterday. But he has had a very tough time after the Tour. We would have liked to show him off during this race (the Tour of Denmark), but we also have to understand that it was difficult to win the Tour de France, what with everything that comes with it."

After a season-long build-up, Jumbo-Visma threw everything they had to try and conquer the Tour de France, and they've done so successfully having taken the yellow and green jerseys with Vingegaard and Wout van Aert respectively, alongside many days in the lead of the race and several stage wins. It was the end of a long journey for the team who has chased the Tour de France win for a long time, and it has taken a toll on Vingegaard who has not yet returned to racing or hinted at it since completing the race.
Compatriot Michael Morkov also said that Vingegaard "invested a lot" and that "there's no doubt that he's exhausted now". The Jumbo-Visma rider is set to race Il Lombardia at the end of the season with high expectations, but until then he has taken his time to get back into competition.
