Will Visma | Lease a Bike have a new name in 2027? - Jonas Vingegaard's team listed under different name in UCI registration list

Visma | Lease a Bike now has a provisional name for its 2027 season registration. In documents published by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the Dutch team is listed as Yellow B. Cycling, the name of the parent company that operates the squad. For now, the change does not signal a new sporting identity. It is an administrative measure while team management continues its search for a title sponsor for next season and, in turn, a new official name.
The list released by the UCI on Monday names the men’s and women’s professional teams that have submitted the essential documents for registration in 2027. One notable detail is the name under which one of the peloton’s leading teams is registered. The squad has yet to decide who will take over as title sponsor in its commercial name.
The search for a new title sponsor has been on team director Richard Plugge’s agenda for some time. Registering as Yellow B. Cycling allows the team to be identified for administrative purposes while its commercial name for 2027 is finalised. It does not mean the squad will necessarily race under that name throughout the season.
Visma will remain associated with the Dutch team in the coming years, although the Norwegian software company plans to scale back its involvement. It does not want to join the growing financial arms race among cycling’s leading teams. That step back means the squad must find a new company to take on the title-sponsor role and help define its identity for next season.

Yellow B. Cycling

The situation marks a transition for a team accustomed to competing at the highest level with the backing of major sponsors. For now, Yellow B. Cycling is the provisional name listed in the UCI register, pending an agreement that will determine the team’s permanent name.
This is not the first time the team has faced a period without a clearly defined title sponsor in its name. Historically known as Rabobank, the Dutch squad also had to adopt a provisional name after its partnership with the bank ended.
During the first half of 2013, the team raced as Blanco Pro Cycling before Belkin, a computer accessories company, came on board as title sponsor. That episode offers a precedent for the current situation, with the team needing to find a new brand to back the project from 2027.

Other notable omissions from the UCI list

The difference is that Visma will remain involved, albeit to a lesser extent, while Richard Plugge seeks a new principal source of funding. Until that process is complete, Yellow B. Cycling will be the administrative name used in the team’s UCI registration documents.
The list of teams that have submitted the essential documents for 2027 registration also contains several other notable omissions. Picnic PostNL, Jayco AlUla and Euskaltel-Euskadi are among the teams absent from the international federation’s published list.
An omission from this initial register alone does not determine the future of those teams, but it is another striking detail in the documentation for next season. As the status of the unlisted squads becomes clearer, Visma - Lease a Bike is facing its own transition, with the search for a title sponsor among its outstanding priorities for 2027.
