WorldTour teams Jayco AlUla and PicNic PostNL have missed the deadline for applications for UCI WorldTour licenses ahead of the 2027 season. Cycling's governing body has published its list of teams who have submitted the necessary documents for registration next season.
Surprisingly, the two WorldTour teams are among those who have not met the October 15th deadline to register for their licenses. Part of the registration includes providing bank guarantees of their finances for 2027 as well as an adequate number of riders contracted for next season.
ProTeams TotalEnergies, Equipo Kern Pharma, Euskaltel-Euskadi and Flanders-Baloise are also not included on the list of teams for next season. Although surprising, it's not uncommon for some teams to miss the first deadline. Teams that did not yet register can still do so but face a restricted window and potential fines for late document submissions.
Missing the deadline also adds risk in that riders in the team are eligible to terminate their ongoing contracts as per UCI regulations. However, it's not yet confirmed that any riders have done so.
Last Autumn, Jayco AlUlu also missed the first deadline before submitting documents, citing paperwork issues regarding bank guarantees. This year, both their men's and women's team are also absent from the list.

Picnic PostNL and Jayco AlUla miss deadline

Picnic PostNL are in the same situation as both their men's and women's team are not on the list. However, they were given one-year WorldTour licences for 2026, rather than licences covering the full 2026 to 2028 period, over uncertainty around the team's future.
Extensions for 2027 and 2028 were made conditional on meeting financial requirements set by the UCI Licence Commission.
The team has also been embroiled in controversy following an investigation into the team's culture as former riders and staff alleged a 'fear' and 'toxic' culture within the Dutch team.
Among the ProTeams, Flanders-Baloise have confirmed that they will cease operations at the end of the season. Euskaltel-Euskadi recently secured a top 30 finish in the season's rankings, making them eligible for Grand Tour participations in 2027.
TotalEnergies have faced uncertainty over the team's future but have confirmed their confidence in securing the financial backing to continue. Equipo Kern Pharma confirmed this year that they were losing their title sponsor but have not provided an official update on their 2027 status.

What's next for 2027 season registration?

November 1st is a final deadline for submitting essential documents. The UCI Licence Commission offers a final chance of appeal. WorldTour teams that are refused registration are then considered for ProTeam status.
Teams also had to confirm 10 signed rider contracts on October 15th, have 15 rider contracts submitted by November 1st, and finally, at least 27 no later than December 1st.
The UCI is set to publish the final list of teams registered for the 2027 season at the end of the registration procedure on December 8th.
