Stefan Küng's career seems to be on crossroads. After seven years of racing for Groupama - FDJ, it seems that Fabian Cancellara approached his compatriot with an appealing offer to join Tudor Pro Cycling from 2026 onwards.
According to cycling journalist and transfer market expert Daniel Benson, the deal is basically sealed. That would mean another strong leader for the ambitious Swiss PRT team which is on a good way to secure automatic wildcards to (all) World Tour events in 2026.
The Swiss timetrialist has become a household name immediately after joining Groupama - FDJ in 2019. With 22 victories (at the time of writing) in the colours of the French team, he is one of the most successful men to have raced under the guidance of Marc Madiot.
On top of the 31-year-old's palmares stand two European time trial titles (2020 and 2021) and a stage win at last year's Vuelta a Espana. Besides that Küng also happens to be a seven-time Swiss champion (6x ITT and 1x road).
Despite the signings of top puncheurs Marc Hirschi (539 UCI points) and Julian Alaphilippe (131), Tudor is still struggling to outscore the other Swiss PRT formation Q36.5 Pro Cycling lead by outstanding Tom Pidcock with 1480 points to his name just four months into 2025. Were Tudor to lose to either of Q36.5 or Picnic PostNL (in case of eventual relegation), the team would still be front runners for automatic invitation to all one-day races.
For Küng, who belongs to the top crop also at cobbled classics, it will be vital to have certainty of starting races such as Paris-Roubaix and Tour of Flanders. Both races where he consistently arrives inside the top-10. However a Monumental victory has slipped through Küng's fingers a couple of times. Third place from 2022 Paris-Roubaix therefore remains his best result for the time being.
