A fourth Covid-19 case as hit the peloton in three days and this time it can affect the Giro d'Italia quite a lot. Filippo Ganna, favourite for Sunday's time-trial and key domestique for INEOS Grenadiers has abandoned the race with immediate effect.
The British team contests a big loss here, as they look to keep Tao Geoghegan Hart and Geraint Thomas in the fight for the Giro's podium - or perhaps more. The Italian time-trial champion finished second on the opening day and was expected to be in contention for the win on stage 9's time-trial which is set to be pan-flat.
