After starting the 2026 season in outstanding form, winning the overall classification of the Setmana Ciclista
Volta a Comunitat Valenciana, where she also claimed the points classification,
Demi Vollering has become a major talking point behind the scenes in the international peloton.
The reason?
According to Daniel Benson speaking to Wielerrevue, the head of her current team, FDJ United – Suez, Stephen Delcourt, intends to present her with a contract proposal designed to convince her to extend her stay with the French squad. “We’re looking for a special contract, because she is a special rider, and this is not just about the financial side.”
Vollering joined the French team last season and quickly confirmed her competitive value.
The Dutch rider claimed victories at the Vuelta a Espana, the Tour of the Basque Country, Strade Bianche and the Volta a Catalunya, further strengthening her status as a leading figure in the women’s peloton.
She also reached the podium at the Tour de France Femmes, the Tour de Suisse and the World Championship time trial, a record that reinforces the team’s desire to secure her future. “I hope we can create something for the next period and sign a special, special, special contract that no one would expect.”

And the sharks?
With this being the final year of her current deal, it is only natural that teams with larger budgets may try to lure her with highly competitive financial offers. Still, Stephen Delcourt believes he can keep the 29-year-old Dutch rider with the team for longer. “Now I know what she wants, and I know what I can offer her, and we are working on the best possible agreement.”
However, uncertainty remains over whether Vollering could be tempted by what might be considered an irresistible project. Delcourt says he is prepared for any outcome. “If she ultimately decides to go to another team, I won’t be disappointed, because she gave everything for the team, and the team gave everything for her.”
