Urska Zigart is a professional cyclist from Slovenia and one of the most prominent figures of women's sport in the eastern European nation. She is well known to be the partner of pro rider Tadej Pogacar but is also a growing figure within the women's peloton where she stands out as a quality climber and has been part of multiple Women's World Tour teams.
Name: Urska Zigart
Born: 4th December 1996
Place of birth: Slovenska Bistrica, Slovenia
Turned pro: 2015
Height: 1.64m
Zigart was born in Slovenia in the town of Slovenska Bistrica in December 1996 and currently lives in Monaco with her partner Tadej Pogacar, one of the most successful riders in modern cycling but also of history. The two are engaged since 2021 and she has frequently been present at some of Pogacar's biggest triumphs such as the Tour de France or World Championships.
She became a pro in 2015 at the age of only 18, racing for the BTC City Ljubljana club back in Slovenia. Her talent became apparent over the years and in 2020 she was signed by Women's World Tour outfit Alé BTC Ljubljana. In 2021 she moved once again teams to join Team BikeExchange with whom she'd stay until 2024. In this period of time she would become time-trial national champion on four occasions and in 2024, finally, winning the road race as well. Her only other victory until this time was at the 2021 Setmana Ciclista Valenciana. In 2024 she was also involved in a large controversy as despite being double national champion and the top figure in Slovenia's women cycling, she was left out of the picks for the Olympic Games, and that choice also led to Tadej Pogacar opting out of the event.
She has been largely a domestique throughout her career however ocasionally she showed her talent as a strong climber, finishing on the Top10 of the 2022 Tour de France Femmes' queen stage and finishing the 2024 season with a very strong fourth place at the brutal Giro dell'Emilia Donne. This earned her a new contract in 2025 with the Patrick Lefevere-owned AG Insurance-Soudal Team for another two seasons.
