Elisa Longo Borghini took victory on the fourth stage of the 2023 Giro d'Italia Donne as Annemiek van Vleuten retained her hold on the lead of the race.
After the relatively calm sprint day on stage 3, the general classification riders again came to the fore on stage 4. Summiting the final climb of the day, Annemiek van Vleuten, Veronica Ewers and Elisa Longo Borghini were leading the main peloton.
In the final it was the Italian National Champion, Longo Borghini that took the win with Ewers second and van Vleuten forced to settle for third.
