Team SD Worx have been nothing short of incredible throughout the first half of the 2023 season and their successes continued on stage 3 of the Giro d'Italia Donne through Lorena Wiebes.
“I am very happy with the stage victory. The team worked hard. Elena Cecchini and Barbara Guarischi did a really good lead-out," said a delighted Wiebes in her post-stage interview. "We were a bit far away in the last kilometres, but I stayed with Barbara in her wheel and she pushed me off perfectly. She went into the last corner first, so I only had to sprint for 150 metres. We were in control all day long.”
After taking victory on a pair of Giro d'Italia Donne stages in 2021, this win marks Wiebes' third career success at the race. “I'm happy to be back here and win again. The Giro Donne is a very nice race to race in," she continued. “In the final I felt a bit of pressure, because I want to win for the team and my teammate.”
