There had been some controversy in the final of stage 2 as Jumbo-Visma unsuccessfully attempted to reel in Lafay. Even
Wilco Kelderman of the Jumbo-Visma expressed his belief that a turn from
Jonas Vingegaard could have made a big difference and given van Aert, who eventually finished second on the day, the stage win.
With stage 3 presenting more of a traditional sprinters day, will van Aert attempt to mix it up with the likes of Mads Pedersen, Jasper Philipsen and Mark Cavendish? Only time will tell.
