Following a late crash on stage 1 of the 2024 UAE Tour, Eddie Dunbar managed to get himself across the line. After medical checks however, Team Jayco AlUla's GC hope won't continue on in the race.
As mentioned, Dunbar remounted his bike and was able to finish the stage but in an update posted to Team Jayco AlUla's official social media, the extent of his injuries were revealed. "Unfortunately Eddie Dunbar will not start today's stage 2 time-trial at the UAE Tour after suffering a hand fracture in a crash," reads the post.
Dunbar came to the race with big general classification hopes but sadly for the Irishman, they are now done and dusted already.
