Dutch cycling star
Dylan Groenewegen is out of the final
weekend of the
UAE Tour after crashing badly on the fifth stage. The six-time
Tour de France stage winner suffered a concussion during the incident. Despite
the severity of the crash, the 31-year-old rider from
Team Jayco AlUla still
managed to reach the finish.
Groenewegen himself told the Telegraaf, "It is better
than yesterday, but unfortunately I am not allowed to start anymore because of
a concussion."
The incident was one of several crashes during the fall of
the stage. Other riders such as Jasper Philipsen, Carlos Rodriguez, Felix Gall,
and many others also fell. In the busy arrival zone, even stage winner
Tim
Merlier experienced a crash after the stage.
