"Don't worry, I'm not going to stop cycling" - Jonas Vingegaard reassures tearful young fan who feared he would retire in heartwarming message

The sight of Jonas Vingegaard on the ground after crashing during the Tour de France was a concerning moment for all. The second favourite for the race broke his collarbone as his Tour dreams ended in the midst of a day the Visma | Lease a Bike rider had shown attacking intent.
Virtually sealing the yellow jersey for Tadej Pogacar, Vingegaard's long term future in cycling became the source of speculation as the crash came days after he revealed that he almost left the sport over winter following discontent over his schedule and the demands of the sport.
Some fans were fearing the worst as Vingegaard's season-ending injury cast resh doubt over his future. But the man himself has stepped in to reassure one tearful young fan who thought he may have wintessed his final race day.
In a heartwarming video shared by France Télévisions, the Dane sent a personal message to Adam, who went viral for his emotional reaction to his crash, reassuring him that the cycling world certainly hasn't seen the last of him.
Vingegaard's message to young fan
“Hi Adam, I saw you on television and I'm really happy to have your full support,” Vingegaard said in the video. “It means a lot to me, and don't worry, I'm not going to stop cycling.”
The youngster was invited to the 2027 Tour by Visma and even handed a signed jersey in a classy gesture.
It was a Tour de France to forget for Visma despite a bright start. Winning the team time trial in Barcelona, Vingegaard enjoyed the dream start as he became the first yellow jersey of the race.
Pogacar's season also over after Vuelta crash
The two-time winner fought well and proved next best after Pogacar on most mountain stages before he crashed out. However, Pogacar's dominance meant that he was already some way behind the Slovenian when he crashed on stage 14.
The UAE leader's season is also over with injury after he crashed out of the Vuelta a Espana, also breaking his collarbone but other injuries including a broken vertebrae and concussion.
His crash now adds a new dynamic to late-season races such as the World Championships, European Championships and Il Lombardia as multiple contenders in each race seem primed to do battle for the win Pogacar was formerly expected to take.
However, cycling fans now face a long wait before the two most recent Grand Tour winners will be back in action.

- Just a point to mention. Temperatures in Central Spain, especially Seville and Córdoba are in the high 30's low 40's every summer. It's been normal for much longer than my 35 years here. But it's a dry heat, hot but not humid. You should not misinterpret temperature with unbearable conditions. I was in Carnaby Street London in 1999 when there was a solar eclipse. The temperature was 28°C. I was sweating buckets, and seriously struggling for air. Different locations, different climates, different circumstances.RolandDekker07-09-2026
- I'm not criticizing the riders, but the best part of stage 15 Vuelta should have been the 2 climbs around Villaviciosa de Córdoba and the pueblo. It was going to be much hotter in the start and finish stages especially Córdoba city. Seriously if there was a genuine concern about the forecasted temperature ( before a rest day) then the stage should have been canceled. I watched the race in Santa Maria de Trassierra and the riders never looked distressed at all. My whole point AGAIN is the stage continued NOT because of the health of the riders BUT BROADCASTING REVENUE ! Sean Kelly stated on TNT that in his day there were no cancelations due to temperature. The temperatures in Andalusia have remained pretty much the same in the 35 years I've lived here. So WHY is it suddenly a problem ?? If it really is change the time of year. - Mas has never shown he is good in a TT. Roglic does have past form in that discipline. Mas is hot and he is a Spaniard in his home race, so he could surprise us.
