Derek Gee looks poised to take overall victory at the 2025 O Gran Camiño after a stunning performance on the stage 4 'Queen Stage', saw the Canadian put time into all his main rivals, despite losing out to Sergio Chumil in a two-up sprint for the stage win.

The likely deciding stage of O Gran Camiño 2025, the day was highlighted by a massive 30km or so of climbing. As the final portion of the race began, five riders remained from the breakaway, although the Israel - Premier Tech led peloton was already breathing down their necks. At 17km to go, Gee himself took control of the chase and immediately closed the gap to the break. In fact, by the time the Canadian reached the summit of the penultimate climb, only one rider had been able to keep pace with Gee, that being the somewhat surprising figure of Sergio Chumil from Burgos Burpellet BH.

With Gee re-affirming his general classification lead, the chase behind was being led by Davide Piganzoli and Jefferson Alveiro Cepeda on the final climb. Gee's main challenger at the start of the day, Magnus Cort Nielsen, was climbing admirably for someone not renowned for his ability in the mountains, but he remained around 40 seconds down inside the final kilometre. At the front meanwhile, the fight between Chumil and Gee for the stage went all the way to a photo finish, with Chumil eventually taking it.
