Daniel Martinez was one of the many, many riders caught up in the mass crash at the start of stage 14 at the Tour de France. Sadly after overnight checks, he will not start today's stage 15.
Unfortunately, Dani Martinez will not take to the start of stage 15 after a crash he suffered in yesterday’s stage," says an official statement on the INEOS Grenadiers Twitter account. "After further medical assessment by our Team doctor post stage, symptoms of concussion were detected."
This marks a bit of bad news for the team after two brilliant days in the Alps have brought them back-to-back stage wins through Michal Kwiatkowski and Carlos Rodriguez, with Martinez becoming the second INEOS abandon after Ben Turner.
"Dani will now adhere to the Team’s concussion recovery protocols, before being cleared to race again," the Twitter post concludes.
