Victories (World Tour): 27 (8)
Top riders in UCI rankings: Mads Pedersen (6th)
Rating - 7.11
Rúben Silva (CyclingUpToDate): 8. Into 2024 the team reinforces itself immensely, but this year was already a big success. A motivated team, all of it's leaders perform and re-sign. Mads Pedersen was the headliner winning at the Giro, Tour, BEMER, Denmark (GC) and Paris-Nice. Add to this plenty quality results all throughout the spring, Europeans and Worlds. Pedersen is the leader the team needs, and his versatility pays off a lot unlike some riders that were similar to him in he past. Mattias Skjelmose is not yet a Grand Tour rider but has shown himself very well in the hilly terrain and one-week stage-races. Giulio Ciccone was a climbing menace and won KOM at the Tour de France. A team with a few leaders but they all performed well, the team was in the big screen on all terrains and often secondary riders stepped to the role when given the chance.
Kieran Wood (CyclingUpToDate):
7. About what was expected from the former Trek - Segafredo this year. Mads Pedersen the one truly world class performance of the year, including victories at the Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France and very creditable performances at the Glasgow World Championships, Paris-Roubaix, the Tour of Flanders and Milano-Sanremo. Add to that Giulio Ciccone’s polka-dot jersey at the Tour de France and it’s a fairly successful year. Expect more from
Lidl-Trek in 2024 however, given the added investment and some very shrewd signings.
Ondřej Zhasil (CyclingUpToDate): 7. I think Lidl-Trek did just what was in their capabilties. Mads was a major protagonist of most big one-day races, with his compatriot Skjelmose taking suprise 2nd on Mur de Huy along with overall in Suisse. However, the team definitely must have wished for more than just a single stage + polka dot jersey from Grand Tours.
Juan Larra (CiclismoAlDia): 7. A very solid season for Lidl-Trek with the Danes Mattias Skjelmose and Mads Pedersen as big stars with the sprinter not winning any classics but with great performances in Flanders, Flèche or Roubaix and with victories in the Giro and the Tour. Skjelmose won the Tur de Suisse, although he couldn't shine as he wanted to in the Tour.
Jorge Borreguero (CiclismoAlDia): 8. Lidl-Trek can be more than proud of its 2023. It has achieved great results thanks to its star pairing of Mattias Skjelmose and Mads Pedersen. Not to be forgotten either is the performance of Giulio Ciccone in the Tour de France, where he was the best in the mountains by winning the polka dot jersey.
Victor Gonzalez (CiclismoAlDia): 7. Led by the Danes Mattias Skjelmose and Mads Pedersen, a great season for Giulio Ciccone as well (King of the Mountains in the Tour de France), a more than notable year for Lidl-Trek.
Filipe Pereira (CiclismoAtual): 6.5. Lidl-Trek were an amazing stage hunting team in 2023, with Mattias Skjelmose, Giulio Ciccone and Mads Pedersen as their top riders. Maybe a more effective version of EF Education, with the team going unnoticed in races like the Vuelta, but more often than not, they proved to be able to fight and win pretty much any hilly race. In 2024, definitely the team to watch with Tao Geoghegan Hart being the GC rider the team was in need of.
Carlos Silva (CiclismoAtual): 7.5. Only Mads deserves a medal in this team, for his season. Lack of investement.
Ivan Silva (CiclismoAtual): 5.5. Highlights of the season go to Skjelmose's Tour de Suisse win, Ciccone's Mountain jersey at Tour de France and Pedersen's 3 Top 10 spots at monuments aswell as his victory in BEMER Cyclassics.
