OFFICIAL: Red Bull announces signing of exciting climber compared to Miguel Indurain on multi-year contract

Georg Steinhauser will join Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe from next season. The 24-year-old German leaves EF Education-EasyPost after several WorldTour campaigns and signs a multi-year deal with a team where he will reunite with Florian Lipowitz.
The signing marks Steinhauser’s return to a German setup and strengthens a project that keeps betting on young talents with room to grow. The climber has already shown he can shine in stage races, though his versatility and attacking instinct are also key to his arrival.
It is no coincidence his name has been linked to one of cycling’s all-time greats. Miguel Induráin once said Steinhauser was the rider in today’s peloton who most reminded him of himself, a striking comparison given the German’s profile and his ability in the mountains and stage races.
Steinhauser has already offered glimpses of that potential. His solo win at the 2024 Giro d’Italia was a standout WorldTour breakthrough, and since then he has continued to establish himself as one of Germany’s brightest prospects.
This season he stepped up again at Paris–Nice, finishing third overall and taking the white jersey. The result confirmed he is not only a rider who can win from long range, but one who can sustain a high level across a stage race.

“Georg combines climbing ability, race intelligence, and an attacking mindset. He has earned results through hard work in recent years, and we believe he is still far from his ceiling.
"Together, we want to keep supporting his development and provide the best environment for him to take the next step in his career,” said Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe sports director Zak Dempster.
Steinhauser’s arrival also revives a relationship that predates both riders turning professional. The German shared two seasons with Florian Lipowitz in their early years on the bike, and they will now meet again at one of the WorldTour’s strongest outfits.
The team’s new rider embraces the move with the aim of continuing his development and contributing both in his own chances and in support of his teammates.

“I’m really excited about the coming years at Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe! As a youngster, I was always a fan of this team and I’ve been impressed by how they’ve ticked off one goal after another.
"Joining a German team with such a professional and international approach will definitely be a great platform for my progress,” Steinhauser said.
The rider also made clear what he hopes to bring to his new team: “I hope to contribute to the team’s success with my aggressive style, but also by playing an important support role. I’m ready to create unforgettable memories in the Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe jersey!”
At 24, Steinhauser arrives at a key moment in his career. He knows the WorldTour level and has shown he can fight for major results, yet still has room to take several steps forward. At Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe he will now have a new stage to try to confirm everything Miguel Induráin already saw in him.
