As mentioned, Uijtdebroeks looked very impressive at the Giro d'Italia before his untimely enforced abandon. The 21-year-old was sat in fifth in the general classification with a firm grip over the White Jersey for Best Young Rider. In the end, it was Bahrain - Victorious' Antonio Tiberi who claimed the White Jersey and in the process, fifth place in the general classification.
Uijtdebroeks also recently posted images of himself back on the bike to his official
Instagram account. "Slowly but surely back at it," the 21-year-old captioned the video and seemed to be in good spirits with a beaming smile.
At the Tour de Suisse however, there will some considerable general classification talent alongside Uijtdebroeks. The likes of Egan Bernal, Tom Pidcock, Nairo Quintana, Lenny Martinez and defending champion Mattias Skjelmose among others if he wishes to add another big result to his growing palmares in Switzerland.
