After further medical assessment and diagnostic tests, it has been confirmed that Uijtdebroeks has sustained a fissure to the head of the radius in his left elbow.
The injury requires a period of active rest, although it has been stressed that this is not a serious fracture and that the Belgian is expected to return to competition in the near future.
One of the most anticipated riders of the 2026 season, Uijtdebroeks had started the year with high expectations, with the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana serving as his first appearance in Movistar colours. The crash is an early setback in what was shaping up to be a promising campaign, but there is confidence that his recovery will be swift and will not significantly alter his wider season plans.

A short setback with key goals still in sight

At this stage, the injury is not expected to rule Uijtdebroeks out of Paris-Nice, which begins on 8 March and is shaping up to be his first major objective of the season. His participation will depend on how his recovery progresses over the coming weeks.
Beyond Paris-Nice, his provisional race programme includes several major fixtures on the calendar. These include Itzulia Basque Country on 6 April, La Flèche Wallonne on 22 April, Liège-Bastogne-Liège on 26 April, the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes starting on 7 June, and finally the Tour de France, which begins on 4 July.
Uijtdebroeks will remain under close medical supervision in the coming weeks, with the clear objective of ensuring he reaches the key moments of the season in full condition. Both rider and team remain confident that this early interruption will not prevent him from playing a central role as the year progresses.
