"Both my dad and Patrick would be better silent" - Remco Evenepoel unsatisfied with feud between Lefevere and Patrick Evenepoel

A feud has exploded within Soudal - Quick-Step on the eve of the World Championships. A very confusing situation taking into consideration both Patrick Lefevere and Remco Evenepoel's dad are both rooting for a strong result this Sunday, the threat of a lawsuit was sent hours before the Belgian's world title defense.

Evenepoel has criticized the rumours of him possibly moving teams, calling 'bullshit' to the many talks on a possible INEOS Grenadiers transfer. Yesterday his father and agent Patrick has confirmed that he is in talks with several teams including INEOS, and that despite having a contract until 2026 Evenepoel may not stay with the team if it is not capable of providing enough support in the mountains so that he can fight for the wins. Lefevere responded even more harshly, threatening a lawsuit if the contract is broken.

Evenepoel in the middle of all this confusion was asked at the start in Edinburgh this morning about the situation, disrupting his focus. “Everyone should be silent. They just have to let me do my thing," he responded in words to Sporza. "I know well enough what to do. Both my dad and Patrick would be better silent."

He tries to shrug off the feud and focus on today's very important race where he will be a contender to take a second rainbow jersey. "It will be a long and tough course. As Belgians, we are stronger together than alone on this course. If the final is broken up early today, it is not necessarily a disadvantage. The race can explode immediately on the local laps," he said.
