Biniam Girmay leads Intermarché in defense of his Gent-Wevelgem crown

Biniam Girmay and Intermarché-Circus-Wanty will return to Gent Wevelgem hoping lightning will strike twice. The Eritrean is back in Flandres looking to defend his title.

22-year-old Girmay will be wearing the number one jersey, indicating his position as not just team leader but also reigning champion of the race. With his 2022 victory coming as somewhat of a surprise, he'll need the support of his team to repeat the success.

That support will come from Baptiste Planckaert, Laurenz Rex who finished 16th in last year's Gent-Wevelgem, French youngster Hugo Page, the experienced Boy van Poppel, former Tour de France stage winner Mike Teunissen and 29-year-old Dutchman Taco van der Hoorn.

Intermarché-Circus-Wanty lineup for Gent-Wevelgem:

Biniam Girmay, Baptiste Planckaert, Laurenz Rex, Hugo Page, Boy van Poppel, Mike Teunissen and Taco van der Hoorn.
