With the curtain coming down on the 2023 cycling season, Pro Cycling Stats have looked at some interesting data that has to do with the cyclists who have raced in the most countries during 2023 and the top spot goes to
Bart Buijk.
The international peloton of cyclists includes brave globetrotters, those who seek to challenge the limits in the most remote corners of the world. Among them, the aforementioned Dutch cyclist Bart Buijk has been a standout performer, taking part in competitions on five different continents during the recent cycling season!
Below, we list the cyclists who competed in the most different countries during the past season, which raced from October 21, 2022 to October 18, 2023.
- BUIJK Bart: 18 countries.
- STRAVERS Jarri: 15 countries.
- ERIKSSON Lucas: 15 countries.
- BROŻYNA Piotr: 14 countries.
- GALOVIČ Jakub: 14 countries.
Dutchman Bart Buijk tops the list, competing in the most different countries during the 2023 season. This rider, who fittingly belongs to the Dutch Universe Cycling Team, rode his bike in competitions in no less than 18 different countries in 2023.
His journey began at the Vuelta a Guatemala in Guatemala on October 23 last year, and from there, Buijk competed in a series of destinations including Costa Rica, Mauritania, Algeria, Italy, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Argentina, Japan, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Portugal, Iran, Norway, Oman and Turkey - a truly impressive list!
So far, Bart Buijk has taken part in races held in 39 different countries throughout his cycling career, adding 10 new countries last season. The Dutch adventurer still has more challenges on his horizon; he has already added Hong Kong to his list of destinations for the current UCI circuit season.
