Team SD Worx has signed sprinter Barbara Guarischi for the next two years. The Italian rider will be crucial to support Lorena Wiebes in the lead-out.
She is very excited to join her new team, especially now she gets to work for Lorena Wiebes.“I was already honoured when I heard through Elena that the team was interested in me,” Guarischi said. She continues, “Although I have been in the peloton for years, I see this as a new chapter in my career. It’s a switch I didn’t expect any more. I am also looking forward to working with Lorena Wiebes. I am hugely motivated to take on this adventure.”
Sports manager Danny Stam is very happy with the addition of Guarischi to the team. He was looking for riders to support Wiebes and he is sure Guarischi is one of them. “Barbara is an experienced rider who knows how to choose a sprint position. She will play an important role in that sprint train. With the arrival of Lorena Wiebes , we were looking for reinforcements to prepare for the sprint. With Elena Cecchini, Christine Majerus, Lonneke Uneken and Barbara Guarischi we have riders who are suitable for this,” concluded Stam.
