Bahrain Victorious favourites to sign Antonio Tiberi, who will leave Trek after conviction for killing a cat

Antonio Tiberi killed a cat in the summer of 2022 in San Marino by shooting it from a window. The Italian cyclist was then sentenced by the court to pay a fine and he has not raced since for his team, Trek - Segafredo.

It seemed that Tiberi was going to end his contract and transfer teams at the conclusion of this season. However, according to what Gazzetta dello Sport has published, his departure would take place in the middle of the season, so in the coming weeks we could see him wear another jersey.

According to the renowned Italian newspaper, Bahrain - Victorious could have gotten ahead of the Astana Qazaqstan Team and would be the team that would seem to be the most likely to get the services of the young and talented time trialist.

Tiberi, 21 years old (he will turn 22 in June) is one of the Italians with the seemingly brightest future at the World Tour level. Winner of a stage in the 2022 Tour of Hungary (third overall), he was seventh overall at the UAE Tour earlier this season. Since then, the controversial cat episode has become known and he has not raced since February 26th. He will undoubtedly be a great reinforcement for any team in which he finally does sign.
