AWARDS: Matteo Jorgenson voted 'Signing of the Year' at 2024 CyclingUpToDate End of Season Awards

Thanks to your votes, Team Visma | Lease a Bike's Matteo Jorgenson has been crowned the 2024 'Signing of the Year' as part of the CyclingUpToDate End of Season Awards!
Once again, we must thank you all for voting in numbers on our online poll as Jorgenson's transfer from Movistar Team to Team Visma | Lease a Bike fought off strong competition from the likes of the Primoz Roglic's transfer from Jumbo-Visma (now Team Visma | Lease a Bike ed.) to Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe which finished second in the voting and the third placed transfer of Jonathan Milan from Bahrain - Victorious to Lidl-Trek.
Although he was already a rider viewed as someone with serious potential, Jorgenson has immediately realised that potential upon joining Team Visma | Lease a Bike for the 2024 season. Taking two victories, Jorgenson proved his capabilities on a number of different fronts, emerging victorious and taking stage race success at Paris-Nice, then equally impressively adding Spring Classic glory to his palmares at Dwars door Vlaanderen. Coming just 8 seconds from overall victory at the Criterium du Dauphine, Jorgenson also took a top 10 finish from the Tour de France in support of team leader Jonas Vingegaard.
Scooping up a large total of 43% of the votes, the American had a sizeable advantage over Roglic (30%) and Milan (13%), with the remaining trio of Pavel Sivakov (8%), Mikel Landa (4%) and Daniel Martinez (1%) splitting the remainder of the votes between them.
Don't forget though, this is only the second of the awards to be announced this week and in the others, every vote could be crucial. - Quite a surprise, he's been a model Pro and as a nasty Brit I'm rather proud of what he's achieved. I sat watching, absolutely gutted for him on the Finnestre in 2018 but for many of us what he did this year was unexpected but brilliant (despite rooting for Isaac). maria2024202408-01-2026 - Young Del Toro seem to have dealt with pressure exceptionally well last year. The Maglia Rosa lose last year was due to tactics, not pressure. It was a former young team mate of his (whose name rhymes with Caruso) who time and again didn't cope well. It's very reasonable to use Isaac as a super domestic for Tadej in TDF and avoid yet another leadership friction in the Giro. UAE team could have been honest about it, when the main reason is seemingly clear. Nothing wrong about it.BM08-01-2026
