Astana Qazaqstan Team seek success as Mark Cavendish and Alexey Lutsenko head towards Giro di Sicilia

The Giro di Sicilia is far from the most reputable race of the spring but it will feature a few World Tour teams. One of them is Astana Qazaqstan Team who seek their second win of the season, taking both Mark Cavendish and Alexey Lutsenko in pursuit of success.

Simone Velasco took the team's only win of the season from a breakaway at the Volta a Valenciana, but the Kazakh squad has largely been absent from the action, drifting away from their World Tour future as they fail to score meaningful points for the opening four months of the season. Mark Cavendish has recently finished third at Scheldeprijs giving some glimpse of hope, and before he heads to the Giro d'Italia he seeks to take his first win with the team here.

Alexey Lutsenko, the team's other leader also comes in looking for the overall classification where he will be one of the favourites. The team feature support from Manuele Boaro, Davide Martinelli, Gianmarco Garofoli, Gleb Brussenskiy and Martín Lopez.
