XDS Astana Team's Harold Martin Lopez has climbed to a brilliant summit finish stage 6 win at the 2025
Tour of Turkey, leading home his teammate
Wout Poels for an Astana one-two in another stunning result for the team.
There was a massive fight for the breakaway early on stage 6. When the elastic did finally snap, four riders found themselves up the road. As the pace continued to be unrelentingly high in the peloton behind, echelons split up the main group and ultimately doomed the breakaway with around 30km to go, as all the attackers were swallowed up by the bunch.
With two categorised climbs in the final 20km though, the fighting wasn't slowing down once the catch was completed. On the first of the two climb, there were plenty of attacks, without any real separation amongst the GC contenders. Ahead of the final climb, Czech rider Jakub Otruba got himself a gap of around 30 seconds off the front, but at 1.4km to go he'd been passed by a counter-attacking Giovanni Carboni.
Inside the final kilometre, Carboni was caught by Harold Martin Lopez, with the Ecuadorian's teammate and race leader Wout Poels attempting to follow from behind as they secured the one-two at the line.
