Anti-doping fight never stops: The team created by youtuber Bas Tietema joins the Movement for a Credible Cycling

Cycling continues to move forward in its quest to leave behind its dark past with doping. Among other decisions to achieve this, a union called "Movement for Credible Cycling" was created. The MPCC has been in the news recently after confirming that the team formed by youtuber Bas Tietema, The Unibet Tietema Rockets, has joined the cause.

The importance of the MPCC is getting stronger and stronger in professional cycling. It has a stricter anti-doping policy than the UCI. Quite a few top teams have joined the union, and with the arrival of Tietema Unibet Rockets, only Polti-VisitMalta is missing from the ProTeams ranks.

On the union with Unibet Tietema Rockets, the MPCC statement reads as follows: "We are very pleased that the former Dutch team has joined. We encourage them to actively participate in the fight against doping, now that suspicions are far from disappearing, and to act for even more credible cycling on other issues, such as the health and safety of riders during races."

Bas Tietema explains the reason for this decision in his team: "We are very committed to fairness and transparency in cycling," he says.

"By joining the MPCC, we want to demonstrate our responsibility not only to our riders and our staff, but also to the sport and its fans around the world. We believe our association will help us set an example and build confidence in cycling. In addition, we reaffirm our commitment to respect the MPCC's internal rules," he concludes.

Tietema's team will enjoy its third year as a ProTeam formation in 2025. For the new course it will have a development team after the agreement with the French Charvieu-Chavagneux Isère Cyclisme. The best talents of the team will be able to make the jump to the Unibet Tietema Rockets in the future. This collaboration should further strengthen Rockets' bond with their new homeland, France.
