Heading into her final season as a professional rider, Annemiek van Vleuten has revealed the calendar she will be following throughout the majority of the season, as she carries the rainbow stripes around the world in search of a big final set of victories.
The 40-year old has, besides winning the World Championships, taken victories in all three of the Grand Tours in women's racing, as well as Liège-Bastogne-Liège among her many victories. It was a season that could not be matched by anyone else in the field, but the Dutch rider will follow a similar calendar in 2023.
Currently training in Colombia, van Vleuten will travel back to Europe in mid-February to race the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana, followed by Omloop Het Nieuwsblad - both races where she will attempt to defend her title. In the spring she will race the Tour des Flandres as well as the three Ardennes classics and the women's Vuelta a Espana.
The Giro d'Italia Donne, Tour de France Femmes and World Championships are all in her agenda in the summer, races that should likely be her main goals of the season as she looks to revalidate several of the titles she conquered over this year.
