Annemiek van Vleuten has won the stage 4 in the Giro d'Italia Donne. The Dutch rider was fastest in the sprint against Mavi Garcia, who secured the second position. Marta Cavalli crossed the line in third place.
At the start of the race, any breakaway attempt remained unsuccessful. Franziska Braube did manage to get in front of the peloton, but the peloton soon caught up to her. Annemiek van Vleuten, the two-time winner of the Giro Donne, Marta Cavalli, and Mavi García, then managed to create some distance from peloton.
With 600 meters to go, Garcia tried to attack with a very long sprint. Van Vleuten counterattacked her, overtaking her in the final corner and thus scoring a stage victory. The Dutch rider also became the new leader in GC.
