Quinn Simmons is riding his debut Tour de France, however so far things are not going perfect for the American who is yet to show his true colours, but has received a fine during yesterday's stage.
The incident happened during stage three from Vejle to Sønderborg, where the Trek - Segafredo rider rode off-road and in a patch of grass during the stage. Caught by commissaries, the move was sanctioned, earning Simmons a 500 Swiss Francs fine, aswell as 40 points in the green jersey competition and one point in the KOM classification.
Such sanctions should not however affect his race. Simmons will be looking towards the hillier stages where he can not only play a role in the breakaways, but also fight for a stage win taking into consideration his versatility and current form after taking the KOM classification at the Tour de Suisse.
