Friday's mid-mountain stage, the 19th of the
Tour de France, is probably the last chance for
Movistar Team to get a victory and save the furniture in a Gallic round that is being very bad for them.
Alex Aranburu is the man chosen by the Spanish team to try to sneak into the breakaway of the day and go for the win.
The Basque rider spoke with Marca's colleagues and did not throw away any doubts, stating that the stage is well suited to his characteristics and, despite everything that is happening after the withdrawals of Enric Mas, Matteo Jorgenson, Ruben Guerreiro or Antonio Pedrero, they will continue to fight until the end.
"We are a little tired, but it's normal because we are already in the last week. It's never easy to win, but Friday's opportunity is nice for me. There are few of us, but those of us who are here will try to put up a fight," Aranburu commented.
Speaking in terms of Spanish cycling, Movistar Team rider confirmed that the three victories in this year's Tour de France are great news: "It's great that Pello, Ion and Carlos have won, too. They've done very well, but let's see if we can do it now. Unfortunately we haven't been lucky with crashes and so on. Enric was unlucky. It's easy to get caught in a crash or whatever. In a three-week Grand Tour it's difficult to get everything right. Finally, he revealed that he hopes to make it to the World Championship in Glasgow and get a good result: "After the Tour, I'll do San Sebastian and then the World Championship, we also have high hopes".
