Alejandro Osorio takes the gold in a historic Colombian National Championships with Sergio Higuita second and Egan Bernal third

Alejandro Osorio has managed to win the elite men's road cycling race at the Colombian national championships after a heart-stopping race from start to finish, which gave no respite in a single second.

Sergio Higuita and Egan Bernal made a huge effort and worked together to hunt down a breakaway that Osorio took advantage of to take the victory, as they came within a hair's breadth of catching him but could only make the podium, in second and third place respectively.

In this way, Osorio achieves with an absolutely historic victory his first gold in the Colombian National Championships. Higuita was on the verge of getting the third victory of his career in the event, and Bernal adds his second podium after the silver achieved in 2020.

The winners of the last editions of the elite men's road race of the Colombian Nationals have been, since 2018, Sergio Luis Henao, Óscar Quiroz (2019), Sergio Higuita (2020 and 2022), Aristóbulo Cala (2021), Esteban Chaves (2023, and now, in 2024, an Alejandro Osorio who writes his name in the most memorable pages of Colombian cycling.
