2024 Vuelta a Espana GC Update after stage 5: Primoz Roglic and the rest of Red Jersey contenders successfully navigate sprint day

After the 3rd sprinters stage in the first five days at the 2024 Vuelta a Espana, Primoz Roglic remains in the Red Jersey of race leader, having successfully navigate the stage without incident.

As such, the Slovenian leader of Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe retains an 8 second lead atop the general classification from second placed Joao Almeida of UAE Team Emirates, with Enric Mas completing the podium at this early stage, 32 seconds down on Roglic.

Then follow White Jersey contenders Antonio Tiberi (4th), Lennert van Eetvelt (5th) and Mattias Skjelmose (8th), with Felix Gall and Brandon McNulty sandwiched between in 6th and 7th respectively. Despite a late puncture coming in the final 3km, Mikel Landa retains his place in the top-10, as Aleksandr Vlasov rounds things off.
