Results HG Cross Heerderstrand 2026 men's and women's races - Joran Wyseure and Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado take big wins in dominant fashion
Cyclocross
Joran Wyseure and Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado took big victories in HG Cross Heerderstrand 2026 as both riders came across the line solo as they both battled hard in the Netherlands.
The iconic Dutch race takes place along small hills and a sandy strand at a small lake. With extended deep sand sections and several technically demanding hills and turns, the race offered plenty of opportunities for the big names in the third round of the HG Cross series.
But the men's race started with confusion as several riders appeared to get off to a poor start. Pim Ronhaar and Laurens Sweeck were affected, falling well behind at the beginning and finding themselves 10th and 12th respectively at the end of the first lap.
Niels Vandeputte and Mees Hendikx shared the lead during the opening laps before Joren Nieuwenhuis began to assert himself at the front. He took the lead during lap three.
It was tight at the top by the halfway mark as Felipe Orts also joined the mix. Around six riders, including Vandeputte, Orts, Nieuwenhuis, Hendrikx, Joran Wyseure and Giel Lejeune, were at the front.
Wyseure struggles before coming back to the front
By the beginning of lap six, Hendrikx and Wyseure had been gapped slightly as a relentless pace at the front made it difficult to hold on. Further back, Ronhaar continued to battle some way back while Sweeck's chances appeared to have faded after the slower start.
Wyseure surged as the race headed into the penultimate lap as Vandeputte, Orts, Nieuwenhuis and Lejeune all stayed in touch. But as the race crossed into the final lap and got the bell, Wyseure led Nieuwenhuis by just a second while Vandeputte trailed a handful of seconds behind in third.
Wyseure rolled through the final lap on the way to his fourth elite professional win, surging through the final obstacles to take an emphatic win. Nieuwenhuis held on for second while Vandeputte rounded out the podium behind.
In the elite women's race, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado took victory ahead of Denise Betsema and Aniek van Alphen to complete an all-Dutch podium. Pre-race favourite Fem van Empel finished in fifth place, over a minute behind.
Alvarado took the brilliant solo victory, finishing ten seconds ahead of Betsema and van Alphen.

- Nibali got into the lead because he wanted the team car further forward in the caravan (I love this as a sign of tactical thinking). He solidified the lead on the rainy cobbles day when he was just brilliant, while other contenders crashed out on the wet roads. Strategic and skillful, yes, but the English roads weren’t as decisive as they might seem.RidesHills24-10-2026
- The Domedancy is the one designed for Seixas - anaerobic short climbs. Seixas isn't as good with the long climbs
Rafionain-Glas24-10-2026 - no i just type inivitable facts, nothing else. I wish UAE wasnt so damn good but hey the reality is they are. Visma on opposite direction crashing with no money and riders, coaches leaving mid contract ffs..i wish that wasnt the case but im not pretednig its not real when it is reality... RbH and Lidl i UAE cloesst opponents now thats clear. But if were real how can you stop that team with del toor and pogacar (greatest ever rider they made him) and you have mcnulty as a dom with (who would be captain in other teams and wins world and 10 more behind him..) history also says their the best team by far so what you want me to say? fake and be delusional and tell myself things? Its not a matter for praising anyone its a matter of beeing real nothing else, i wish visma for instance was better and like before but they cant buy any proper climbing guys cause their broke...heck they cant even keep their riders and coaches who flee mid contract what you want me to do lol.miguel24-10-2026
- Far as I recall, Nibali used the 2012 tdf UK stages to win it, most wanting to get them over with, cept he built his lead in them.. Armstrong's wrong, IF and it's an IF, the summers good in '27 like 26 then it'll be attritional.. if it's 'normal, then it'll be 50/50 on the weather, also the roads are VERY VERY narrow, very windng + on the 2nd steep short little climbs I know cause it goes thru my arse 👍

- I'm always gutted to see the road season come to an end, but the excitement for cyclocross to kick off totally makes up for it.anonymouscyclist24-10-2026
