It's taken almost three months since Thibau Nys' last time on a cyclocross podium. That was until the Benidorm World Cup. Still, he was also a bit disappointed afterwards in conversation with In de Leiderstrui: bad luck, or rather a crash, also played tricks on him at a crucial moment.
"I felt really great. In any case, I am very satisfied, but on the other hand also a bit disappointed: I am not saying that more was possible, but I would have liked to have fought for it. That was not possible because of that fall, coming back from it just took too much strength."
"Physically I felt really fine. It was just a shame to have to come back after that fall and my knee also felt sore for a while, but that worked out in the end. I can't be disappointed, but it's just a shame. I would have liked to have fought a little longer, because there was really a lot of power in it."
So after almost three months, Nys is back to his old level. "It's just a matter of finding the right balance in everything. That is a learning process, which goes well one week and less so the next. But I learn every day and the day will come when it will all be done."
