Jonas Vingegaard's wife caused a stir in the cycling world earlier this week, when in a series of interviews released in the Danish media, she publicly criticised
Team Visma | Lease a Bike and their handling of her husband. Despite Trine Vingegaard Hansen's comments raising a number of eyebrows however, the Visma leader has now attempted to shut down any further discussion.
Speaking to NOS at the start line at the 2025
Tour de France, Vingegaard was again asked to comment on the interviews made his wife. This time, the Dane was in no mood for conversation. "It has been taken out of context. She said something and the media in Denmark made a story out of nothing," Vingegaard answered sharply, attempting to firmly shut down the topic. "She said something and the media put a spin on it. That's what the media do. That's the Tour de France, I think. You have limited time and you are wasting it on something that is not important, instead of on the race."
The boss of Team Visma | Lease a Bike,
Richard Plugge was similarly uninterested in any discussion surrounding criticism of him and his team made by Vingegaard's wife. "I don't know what happened and I don't care," Plugge told Ekstra Bladet when the interview was mentioned. "The most important thing is that we are together as a team, and we help Jonas to win the Tour de France."
