Wout van Aert back in Spain possibly preparing for Paris-Roubaix

Wout van Aert is reported to be back to training in a last attempt to test his form ahead of Paris-Roubaix, where Jumbo-Visma is still yet to decide on his presence.

On social media van Aert has written about Amstel Gold Race where originally he was planned to be defending his title, but due to a Covid-19 infection days before the Tour des Flandres his spring plans came to a halt: "It's another sad Sunday for me. Not being able to defend my title in the Amstel Gold Race hurts. But one day I will come back. Good luck to my teammates at Jumbo-Visma.”

Belgium newspaper Het Nieuwsblad reported that van Aert has travelled to Calpe some days. This coming thursday Jumbo-Visma will do a recon ride of the French classic and there, an answer should emerge on whether the Belgian champion will be participating in it or not.
