"With Primoz you just knew when he was going to win..." - Nathan van Hooydonck compares leadership styles of Primoz Roglic & Jonas Vingegaard

Although he was forced into a premature retirement due to heart issues, Nathan van Hooydonck continues to keep himself active in the cycling world as an analyst.

Recently, the former Team Visma | Lease a Bike star sat down with Eurosport to discuss a various number of topics. One of the items discussed was the difference between two of van Hooydonck's former team leaders, two-time Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard and the now-BORA-hansgrohe man, Primoz Roglic.

"I don't really know if there's like a really big difference. Primoz knows what he wants. He doesn't say a lot but he's a different leader than Jonas for sure but it's hard to put into words," begins van Hooydonck's analysis of the two Grand Tour winning superstars. "With Primoz you just knew when he was going to win and you knew when he was good because he had the experience."

"With Jonas, you also know when he's good, but sometimes he also needs that little bit of confirmation," continues the Belgian. "He needs a few stages to really think 'Okay, I can win, I'm in good shape.' Whereas Primoz, he knew it off the numbers already. 'I did it last year, I won. My numbers are better so I should win again.' But I think Jonas has really developed and become a better leader after the Tour de France in 2022 when he won."
