Giro d'Italia is up ahead and one of the men who can upset the GC favourites is
Thymen Arensman. Among other things, he can make a use of tips received from former Giro winner
Tom Dumoulin with whom he met up in March.
"I got a lot out of that meeting with Tom," Arensman said after meeting with Dumoulin for an episode of De Wielerredactie podcast. "Of course you heard everything from the podcast, but Tom also shared a lot in our conversations with the microphone off. And if he wants to keep sharing things, he shared his phone number with me. I can always call him. Like I did in the Volta ao Algarve, for example, when things weren't going so well again."
According to the
INEOS Grenadiers rider, he and Dumoulin were able to find way to each other thanks to their similar rider profiles. "Everyone is just trying to prove themselves and bring the new marginal gain to the market, but you can also completely lose yourself in it, Tom said. Just try to be a bit happier, that will also make you cycle faster, was his advice."
Dumoulin made it clear that one of his wishes towards younger compatriot is that he can keep on enjoying cycling, rather than leave on bad terms like he did himself few years ago, disillusioned...
