"We wouldn't mind letting it go" - Tadej Pogacar admits he wanted Luke Plapp to take Maglia Rosa on stage 6 of Giro d'Italia

Another day in pink successfully ticked off for Tadej Pogacar as the Giro d'Italia managed to surf the gravel of the potentially tricky stage 6 without incident. Not surprising perhaps for a two-time Strade Bianche winner.

"It was a super fast stage, especially in the beginning and we had it under control. A nice breakaway formed with Luke Plapp being a danger for the Pink Jersey which we wouldn't mind letting it go," assesses the Maglia Rosa in his post-stage interview. "INEOS wanted to keep it more under control and yeah, it was actually quite a hard day in the final and I'm happy that it's over."

With stage 7 being the first individual time-trial of the Giro d'Italia, there is no rest for Pogacar after a tricky day in the saddle. "So far it was all about the team but tomorrow I need to have good legs to ride well," the Slovenian previews. "If I have good legs, I will like it. But if I don't have good legs, then no," Pogacar laughs when asked about the route of the ITT.

"I'm feeling better everyday actually. Now, I'm super good in the legs so let's hope for another good day tomorrow but you never know how you sleep at night and how you wake up. So let's wait and see for tomorrow," he concludes. "I'm looking forward. It was one of the main goals when coming here, to be ready for the time-trial so let's see how good I am."
