One of the most anticipated days heading into the 2024
Giro d'Italia, stage 6's visit to the gravel roads of Tuscany threw up plenty of drama, as Movistar Team's Pelayo Sanchez secured the stage win from the breakaway.
In the peloton behind however, despite a few scares the GC guys managed to escape relatively unscathed.
Tadej Pogacar is still the leader, with the same advantage over all his rivals in the Top 10:
Geraint Thomas, Daniel Martinez,
Cian Uijtdebroeks,
Einer Rubio,
Lorenzo Fortunato, Juan Pedro Lopez,
Jan Hirt,
Alexey Lutsenko and
Esteban Chaves.
Perhaps the most striking incident in terms of the fight for the overall on stage 6, happened when Juan Pedro Lopez went to the ground in a late crash. Thankfully for the Spaniard, he managed to recover from it and finish the day safely in the group of GC favourites.

Makes sense to save legs for TT tomorrow. Have to say I expected him to attack, but playing safe likely the smarter thing to do.
That is what I want to see from Pogi👍🏻
For the first time in this Giro, I liked how Pogačar rode the race. Much mature ride, stay upfront, not stupid attack..... True GC rider coming out of him. I know today many 'peoples' not happy coz he not attack in that* climb😀 . Even the funny thing is that people says 'today he's not look good' 😀😀 I say 'Eat that'
Thank you Pogi 🙏 I love this part of you
He said it as well :-https://youtu.be/oC2aLKzKpwA?si=OtIgWwMxKNTwRp_T
